Oman is a country of breathtaking natural beauty and diverse landscapes. For generations, Omanis have maintained a lifestyle of self-sufficiency through hard work and determination. It is a legacy that began with our ancestors, who developed tools to overcome environmental challenges. The development of Alfalaj systems proved Omanis could grow prosperous settlements despite un-favourable environments.
As part of the ambition for greater self-sufficiency and economic development, the Sultanate is now entering a new era of diversification and investment in agricultural and food projects through the Oman Food Investments Holding Company.
Mazoon Dairy is the first-of-its-kind project in Oman, both in terms of size and scale, and was set up with a capital of RO 100 million from the Oman Food Investments Holding Company and investment funds.
The dairy facility is based in As’Sunainah, in the Al Buraimi Governorate.
Currently only 30% of dairy products consumed in the Sultanate are locally produced. However, by 2028 Mazoon Dairy will drive up self-sufficiency to 86%. In addition, Mazoon Dairy will help meet the health and nutritional requirements of the Sultanate and encourage people of all ages, especially school children to maintain active lives by adding dairy to their daily diets.
As a leader in dairy production in Oman, Mazoon Dairy will also champion environmental sustainability, livestock welfare, and workplace safety. It will help nourish a new generation of talent and leadership in the Sultanate and create 2,300 jobs by the tenth year of operations.
Mazoon Dairy is also working with the best-in-class partners from the region and around the world to create new and innovative prospects for business. We promise opportunities for small and medium enterprises. Furthermore, the project will establish As’Sunainah as a hub for food manufacturing in the Sultanate, generating long term business growth opportunities.
I would like to thank our shareholders, other stakeholders and the people of Oman for their unwavering support, and we look forward to seeing Mazoon Dairy products on shelves in every home in the Sultanate in the near future.
